PETSY Mohair Teddy Bear 1928 Replica

PETSY, first introduced in 1928, was a very different bear from his predecessors. He had large ears and a pointed muzzle that made him look almost childlike. His light-blue moveable eyes were uniquely designed to give him multiple expressions. For this reason, the 1928 Petsy is highly valued by collectors and this exceptional 17” replica has been made in the same way as the original. PETSY is hand-stuffed with fine wood shavings. His inimitable facial expression is created not only by his blue glass eyes but also by his hand-stitched nose, originally red, but now faded, as with the original, to a light copper color. But as in the original, the red can still be seen in the underlying felt disc.

Mini Mohair Color Splash Teddy Bears

This humorous rendition of a Teddy bear artist’s palette is comprised of six playfully colored 4” mini-bears, romping on a wooden artist’s palette. On every bear’s nose, there is a dash of color of his neighboring Teddy bear (counter-clockwise). Three bears are holding a paint tube in their paws just in case more paint is needed. The overall “picture” would not be complete without a paintbrush, which is also lying on the palette, so that anyone can pick it up and go on painting wherever their fancy takes them. Every tube has the word Steiff printed on it, as has the paintbrush. The mini-bears cannot be removed from the palette.
